The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), established in 1989 (2045 BS), is a nationwide autonomous apex body of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector dedicated to the creation of technical and skilled human resources needed by the country. It mostly entails setting policies, ensuring quality, creating competency-based curricula, creating skill standards for various occupations, assessing people’s talents, conducting various research studies, determining training needs, etc. It works for Skill Development for the People of Nepal and promotes TVET system to develop a competent workforce for national and international market needs.
Birgunj Institute of Technology (BIT) was established as a private technical institute in 2000 AD by a collective effort of qualified Engineers and educationists offering three years Diploma program in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Computer Engineering was added in the year 2002 followed by Civil Engineering and Electronics Engineering program in 2007. However, Electronics Engineering has been replaced by Electrical and Electronics Engineering since 2019.
Birgunj Institute of Technology (BIT) is an Engineering College situated in the heart of Parsa, Birgunj. This institute is affiliated with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) of the Government of Nepal.
Since its inception, the institution has been able to produce efficient and highly skilled resources at the sub engineer level. The graduates of the college have been serving in Nepal and abroad since 2003, demonstrating the highest standard of technical skills and knowledge they acquired at BIT.

A Step Towards Higher Technical Education
Acknowledging the importance and demand of Higher Technical Education the college is taking the next step towards graduate-level engineering. To start with, the management committee of Birgunj Institute of Technology has taken up the mandate from various sanctioning agencies for running four-year engineering degree courses leading to Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
Presently the institution is running five different Diploma level programs in Engineering and BIT is preparing to lunch a Bachelor level program (BE) in the nearest future. The process is ongoing to get affiliation for Bachelors in Engineering (BE) programs.

Distribution of Admission Form
The candidates can receive the application form from the administration office or authorized center by paying the fee structured by CTEVT.
Required Documents for Admission
Photocopies of SEE/SLC Certificate or equivalent(2 copies)
Photocopies of Citizenship Certificate(2 copies)
Domicile certificate or passport for foreign students(2 copies)
Recent passport size photo (4 copies)
All Nepalese and foreign candidates must meet the entrance requirement of CTEVT.
Students from the general stream should be SEE/SLC passed or equivalence. TSLC students should have an aggregate mark of 66.66% from IOE and 68.33% from CTEVT.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
BIT provides a number of classified & special scholarships as per CTEVT policies. For these scholarships, students have to apply separately, followed by a CTEVT competitive exam.
BIT also offers internal scholarship schemes to meritorious students on the basis of semester exam results.
